Software Development Engineer

The Software Engineer writes, debugs and tests programs written in Oracle, PL/SQL, Ruby, JavaScript and SQL or other languages with guidance from other software engineers. He/she must follow product specifications and be able to follow technical instructions.
Accountabilities:
- Execute full software development life cycle (SDLC)
- Develop flowcharts, layouts and documentation to identify requirements and solutions
- Write well-designed, testable code
- Produce specifications and determine operational feasibility
- Integrate software components into a fully functional software system
- Develop software verification plans and quality assurance procedures
- Document and maintain software functionality
- Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing systems
- Performance tune SQL and database applications
- Deploy programs and evaluate user feedback
- Comply with project plans and industry standards
- Ensure software is updated with latest features
Qualifications:
- BSc degree in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field, Masters preferred
- 4+ years of experience as a Software Engineer or Software Developer
- Experience designing interactive applications
- Experience with design, development and maintenance of REST APIs
- Databases: 2 or more years of experience with an RDBMS, Oracle experience preferred
- Experience developing web applications using Oracle APEX rapid application development framework
- UI/UX design experience would be a plus
- Oracle database administration experience would be a plus
- Ability to develop software in PL/SQL, Ruby on Rails, JavaScript or other programming languages
- Experience with test-driven development
- Proficiency in software engineering tools: git, JIRA
- Ability to document requirements and specifications
- Systems: Aptitude for seeing the role of a small piece of software in a larger system
